During the 20th century, many countries announced their independence. Independence means a new country is born. New countries need leaders. Buat a good leader can come from anywhere, not just a president. In this writing, I will discuss some of the most influential leaders of the 20th century.
Soekarno. That's the first leader I would like to discuss. He led Indonesia to independence in 1945. However, before that he struggled to achieve social equalities for the civilians of Indonesia. He was born in Blitar, 6th June 1901, so he obtained independence after 44 years of living beneath the shadows of the Netherlands. Well, he went to jail for many times. However, after that he became the first president of Indonesia. Also, he shows up in Indonesia's Rp. 100,000 bill, along with his vice president, Mohammad Hatta.
The second leader I would like to discuss is Mr. Mandela, Nelson Mandela. He was a civil rights activist, especially for the black people that was discriminated at those times. There was a law in South Africa at that times, that says white people must come first before black people in anything, that is called the Apartheid Law. Like Soekarno, he also get prisoned many just because his believes. Well, he won a Nobel Peace Prize and become the President of South Africa. That was really worth much.
Martin Luther King, Jr comes next. He came from United States of America. Like Mandela, he also fought for the black people that was discriminated. The activist was famous of his amazing job in social living, and his famous speech called, "I Have A Dream". But he was shot dead in his hotel balcony on April 4, 1968. Such a shame.
Well, from all of this stuff I wrote, there's a lesson that we could take. Even though you were just a standard man living in a standard live, you can do big things that can change the entire world. I hope you like my writing. Thank you.
